Pressure play: asking for chip counts and other comments
There are many ways to apply pressure play to your opponents. Study other Players – their reactions as well as their ways of applying pressure. Read up on it. Look at televised poker tournaments. This is probably the one place where you can enjoy some excellent poker play, listening to the comments on the play and catch on to some basic give-aways. In live events, it may happen that a player could ask you for a chip count before they make the next decision. Experienced players will use this information to calculate how much you have, how much they have, how much they stand to win and what will happen if they lose (for example if they have to go All-in). They will then work out the odds of the situation. They may also use this opportunity to intimidate you and pick up some clues on your behaviour - do you suddenly go pale and look nervous for example? Keep this in mind. Simply add up your chips and tell them or let the dealer do it. You are required to always keep your chips in full view of everyone in any case. Always, always remember to ignore any comments from anyone at the table. Comments are totally irrelevant unless you know the guy making it and can read him like a book. Take no notice of any comments. Just play your strategy regardless of such comments. Have fun!!
