Make use of the opportunity to make notes about the poker strategies of your online poker opponents.  You will note that, if you right click on most software, you will have a note pad that only you can see.  Make notes about the type of player the individual is.  Then, when you take a seat online, make sure that you sit over weakness, with other words, seat yourself to the left of the weak player so that you can judge the play to your right easier (you always play clockwise around the table).  Keep in mind that online play move much quicker than in real life.  Most online players (myself included) play at several tables at the same time.  The software allows you to choose your actions beforehand, without your opponents being able to see it.  This gives you the opportunity to focus on a specific table should you wish to do so during the games.  It also gives you the opportunity to play a much tighter game since you don’t get bored – if you play 4 tables at a time (which I prefer), there is usually enough action at one table at least at any given time to keep you busy.  However,  this also result in a strange trend – most online players get impatient to get into the action and will play some sub-standard hands but, when they get raised, they tend to be more willing to let go than in a live poker game.  It is for this very reason that players with moderate hands in the Blinds are less inclined to call a raise on the button or one from the button.  This allows you to steal blinds aggressively.  In this way, you can pick up more Blinds than you would usually in a live game.  If you find that you have a very aggressive re-raiser sitting to your left, adjust your strategy or even consider moving tables.  But most often Blind stealing is a very profitable action online.  Bluffing online is ofcourse much easier than in live tournaments.  People love bluffing online, since there are less tell-tale signs like bounding hearts and shaking hands.  Players especially enjoy bluffing in poker tournaments online.  It is probably a good strategy to play aggressive with new players who just sat down at your table, especially if they have a big bankroll.  Players usually like to settle in a bit before they play aggressive and this could be to your advantage….
